March 1933
On 6 March, bored with normal service duties at Plymouth,
Lawrence requests a discharge. The request is
approved.
April 1933
On 15 April, the Daily Mail reports Lawrence's discharge,
but on 19 April he is offered a posting to the RAF
Marine Aircraft Experimental Establishment at
Felixstowe. He accepts, and arrives on 28 April. At
around this time, the military historian Liddell
Hart begins work on a new biography of Lawrence.
May 1933
After two weeks at Felixstowe, Lawrence begins to travel
frequently on RAF business - to Hythe, East Cowes,
Manchester, and London. His job is so time-consuming
that he is forced to give up all literary work.
September 1933
King Feisal of Iraq dies in Switzerland.
November 1933
The British Legion Journal publishes three chapters
from The Mint, pirated by an unscrupulous intermediary from a
typescript copy. The incident
annoys Lawrence's superiors.
