March 1932

June 1932

Work begins testing a new armoured version of the seaplane-tender, to be used as a target for practice-bombs.

July 1932

Lawrence takes an armoured boat to Bridlington, where he stays for six weeks, helping to supervise repairs to RAF workboats.

September 1932

Lawrence sees Bernard Shaw's Too Good To Be True, in which he is parodied as 'Private Meek'. Fresh press attention to his activities forces him to relinquish his boat work at Hythe. He returns to Plymouth where he has more free time and is able to catch up with his correspondence. He begins editing a book of war memoirs by Ian Tyre.

November 1932

The Bruce Rogers Odyssey is published. A trade edition in the USA, where Lawrence's name is given as translator, is extremely successful. The income from this allows him to begin improvements to Clouds Hill.
