Please note: it has always been a condition of access to
the T.E. Lawrence Studies list that
if someone wishes to quote from a posting, they first obtain the author's
permission. This is not just a matter of copyright law. It is also to encourage
lively discussion. If people who post feel that they are writing for publication
beyond the list, many will remain silent.
Guests - If you are visiting the board as a guest, welcome.
You can currently read almost all the forums. You
cannot, however, see the signature files beneath postings or
access information about list members.
How to
get to the board home page - If you have followed
a link to a particular topic, you can easily go to the board home page where you
will find the main contents list which shows the different forums you can visit.
Use the "breadcrumb trail" at the top of the page, clicking on
'T.E.Lawrence Studies List'.

Finding the most recent post on a topic - the most recent post appears
after all the earlier ones. If a topic has several pages, that
is indicated
in the contents list. You can click on the last page shown to go there directly,
or use the page numbers shown at the head and foot of each topic page.
Search - There is a
search box on the left near the foot of every page of the contents list and
postings
Finding posts by a particular person (this function is
not available to guests) - go to 'Members' (top right) or click on the
member's name in a list that shows one of their postings. The
is currently no profile information on these pages,
but at the top you'll find you can search for their postings.
Re-order the list of contents - By default, the most recent posting is
shown at the top of the contents list. That may be a new comment on a much
earlier topic. However, you can re-order the contents list using the drop down
box at the bottom of the page.
Browse the topic titles in the contents list - While transferring the
archive, I am trying to make the topic titles more informative and useful. At
present I have rarely added sub-titles (also shown in the contents list) but we
might later use these for key words.
Posting
guidelines - If you entered the board via a link which took you directly to
one of the postings, you might like to read the
list guidelines.
Posting - No one will be
able to add a new posting to the board until the entire archive has been
transferred - some 4,000 postings. Current postings are made on the GWU
